Ranch Dressing

A ranch dressing that you can easily adjust to create a thicker dip for vegetables or breaded chicken.

Ranch Dressing

A quick and easy homemade ranch dressing, based on a recipe from The Salty Marshmallow. I use parsallot as part of the herb mix and less buttermilk to make a dressing that is a little thicker than the original.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/8 cup high-fat plain Greek yogurt See Notes, below.
  • 1 tsp dried chives, or more, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp parsallot herb mix, or more, to taste Grind in mortar & pestle if needed.
  • 1/4 tsp dried dillweed or more, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp granulated garlic
  • 1/4 tsp granulated onion
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • pinch black pepper
  • 2 tbsp buttermilk

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients except the buttermilk in a medium bowl.
  • Add buttermilk and whisk until smooth.
  • Chill for an hour or two before serving, if possible. If not, it is fine served immediately.

Notes

  • Any kind of plain Greek yogurt will do, as will sour cream, but I prefer Oikos Extra Creamy 11%. The extra fat is great in dressings and baking.
