Smoothies

Smoothies that use lots of fruit and, in many cases, vegetables.

Anything Goes Smoothie

I decided to throw a bunch of random things like these into a blender the other day to create a smoothie surprise. I wasn’t sure what I would end up with, but it was damn delicious.

Purple Smoothie

For this smoothie, a rich purple colour was the goal so I started with blueberries and sweet cherries. The flavour wasn’t quite there so I added some mango. That did the trick.

Orange Smoothie

This smoothie features peaches, mango, and carrot juice. I found the smell and taste of the carrot juice overpowering and not entirely pleasant. Fragrant passion fruit juice masked the carrots completely.

Red Smoothie

I developed this recipe as part of a school snack program to highlight red fruits and vegetables. As with other vegetables, the key to using beets is masking the flavour. Pomegranate juice accomplishes that goal.

Green Smoothie

I served this green smoothie in my school snack program using a combination of kale, spinach, and Swiss chard. It was a huge hit.
