We do okay with grains at lunch and supper, but breakfast has always been a white flour wasteland for us. I recently switched to whole grain bagels, homemade at first but now bought more often at the grocery store. Waffles presented a different kind of challenge.

Holiday baking doesn’t have to be complicated. While you may want to tackle a festive trifle or any of the intricate creations you see on televised baking competitions–and kudos to you if you do–a simple approach also works. A few holiday standards can supplement a showstopper or be the star of the show in and of themselves.
Diced fresh mango works well here, adding a pop of tart flavour to the rich dough. I added pistachios for crunch and a cardamom for a little bit of spice.
